Celebrity Interview: Actress Nicole Sullivan

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Actress Nicole Sullivan, known by many for her years on MADtv, may be having fun as the star on Lifetime’s Rita Rocks, but what is she really mad about these days? Her 20-month-old son, Dashel.

Here she shares with The Cradle Crush some of her favorite mom and baby products that she thinks are truly crushworthy…

Little Giraffe Blanket - The blue blankets. I loved them when he was a baby. It basically was for me because I loved the way they felt when I held them. And now he loves them. When he sees them, he says “night, night”. He wants to lay down with it and cuddle.

Little Stork Bags – These bags are great! They are gift bags for expectant mothers. My feet got so fat… literally you’ve never seen anything like my feet. I couldn’t get my Crocs or Uggs on because my feet were so thick. I couldn’t even wear flip-flops because they wouldn’t squeeze in. The only thing I could wear was a slipper, and the Little Stork Bag has great slippers… they’re the best. I broke them open early so I could wear them – I wore them every day for 2 1/2 months before I gave birth!

White Noise Machine (and black out fabric) – This is the thing I rely on more than anything. We put that on when he sleeps, as well as black out fabric for the window, so now it is midnight in his room any time of day. I staple-gunned it to his window and now his naps have gotten so much better. It’s great.

Starfall.com – This is like crack to him… he’s addicted. It’s awesome. Dash is 20 months old and knows all the letters of the alphabet. He points them out on stores… and it’s all because of Starfall.com. It’s really rockin’.

Celebrity Interview: Actress Chyler Leigh

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Actress Chyler Leigh, from the popular show Grey’s Anatomy, must believe in the old adage that good things come in threes. She may play a doctor on television, but in real life she plays an expectant mom… for the third time! Leigh, and her husband, Nathan West, will welcome a little girl later this spring.

So, since she’s “been there, done that” she must know all about new mom and baby products!

Here’s what Chyler is currently “crushing” on:

  • Stokke. I’m a huge fan of the idea of the Stokke crib collection. It seems like such a brilliant crib set and change table. I haven’t gotten our nursery furniture yet, but this is one of the biggest contenders for me.
  • Lansinoh. With both babies before, I used and recommended the Lansinoh products. They make excellent nursing pads (they’re super thin and discreet) and also have fantastic baby wipes. When you have to change a baby’s diaper so often in the beginning, it’s a relief to use a wipe that is extra gentle and moisturizing, to keep them from getting diaper rash.
  • GlamourMom. The company, GlamourMom, makes these awesome nursing tank tops, combining discretion, functionality, and style. I’ve bought them each time during my pregnancies and will definitely do so again this time.
  • Massages. One of the most beneficial services to me during my pregnancies is a pregnancy massage. I love the Burke Williams Spa and they offer excellent massages. And what a relief! It’s amazing to take that “me time” in a place that offers such tranquility and peace of mind. That is so important for mommies!

Guest Cradle Crusher: Actress Annabeth Gish

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Actress Annabeth Gish (Brotherhood) is a mom for second time around. After welcoming her second son Enzo in October (big brother Cash was born in 2007… and happens to have one of the Top 10 Names of 2008!), she’s definitely put in some serious diaper duty!

So, what’s in her diaper bag? Here are some staples that she’s currently crushing on…

  • Ju Ju Be – Be All Diaper Bag. After trying so many and being given more than a few, I finally found a diaper bag I absolutely love: The Ju Ju Be Be All diaper bag. It holds everything I need, the strap stays over my shoulder, the fabric is durable and not too precious, and it has lots of pockets and designated compartments.

  • Love Me Baby Me – Creamy Cream. I use their shampoo and bubbly wash for Cash’s bath time at home. No chemicals, no preservatives, nothing harsh… but it smells great and works.

  • The Gruffalo books by Julia Donaldson. I always keep these in the bag on hand for Cash. He loves the stories, the pictures… and my husband (Wade Allen) and I never tire reading them aloud.
